If you are studying Calculus at the College level, be sure to look for our “Calculus I” app on BlackBerry World which we are making available for free as version 1, while we refine the UI for “Built For BlackBerry”, and add some unique social aspects to an educational app that will use a scoreboard, BBM Channels, and other features for “cooperative learning”.  We’d like your feedback on the beta release. Are there topics for a first semester of Calculus that you believe should be reviewed that are missing?

BBM Channels Refresh Builds Now Available!

We are excited to announce that a new version of BBM Channels has been posted for you to test out! The refresh includes several new features that we are exicted to share with you! Thanks for all your feedback, this is just the first of many feature-rich beta builds! 🙂

New Features Include:

Chat! Ability to chat device to device. From the Channel overview or profile you can start a chat with the Channel owner

– If you’re a Channel owner, make sure you enable chat in your Channel profile.

Subscriber count added to channel profile: No longer will you need to wonder about the subscriber count for the Channels you are subscribed to

Search Improvements: Sort by pagination and a new search animation

Support new lines in create post description field: Add intrigue to your post by spacing out your description.

Allow channel owners to exclude their channels from search – Users can now create Channels that will be excluded from search

Active text support for Channel PIN’s – Whenever a BBM Channel ID is noted, users can select the Channel ID to open up the Channel within BBM. *Already supported on BBOS, new to BlackBerry 10 (seems to work for personal device pins but not for actual channels, at this time.)

New Version 10.2.0.1 of Twitter for BlackBerry 10

The new v10.2.0.1  of Twitter for BlackBerry 10 adds multiple account support. It also allows one to view, reply, and send direct messages from the app instead of just the hub. Here is a list of all the other improvements:

• Direct Message – Twitter 10.2 allows you to view, reply and send new Direct Messages right within the app.
• Discover – Twitter 10.2 offers a new Discover page that delivers a stream of Tweets, accounts to follow and more. Simply pull to refresh or scroll to see more and discover even more fascinating people to follow. Plus the Activity page provides a view into what the people you are following are doing on Twitter including who they’re following and what tweets they’re favoriting.

Side Loading Android Apps onto Your Playbook or BlackBerry 10 Device

1)Download and Install DDPB loader:

2)Find a source for the bar files:

http://apps.goodereader.com/playbook/playbook-android-apps/

See Skype and all that goodness…  Download the files onto your pc and maybe create a directory for all your downloaded Android Apps

3)Set you Playbook or your BB10 device into Developer mode:

Settings>Security and Privacy> Development mode : “ON”

4)Connect the PB or BB10 device to your USB port with the USB cable provided

5)Launch DDPB (“X” out the Blackberry Desktop or the Link software, as you won’t need it)–you may need to wait a minute for the device to sync with PC…

6)Enter the IP address (see my blog on accessing your device via wifi) of the PB or BB10 and the device passwd you have for it

7)up top, on the DDPB UI,  select “add” to add all the android apps from the directory they were saved in

8)The apps you added will now appear in the DDPB UI with check boxes next to them; check all or only  the ones you want to install onto the device

9)Click install and you are into mega app heaven…

NOTE: Restart your device after side-loading to exercise the android player demons…
